Foto von COHORS II PRAETORIA
The person you see in this picture is called Rene Cubaynes. Rene Cubaynes is
one of the best-known and respected re-enactors in Europe, a scholar, a great enthusiast, and the panoply of Rene is one of the most famous
in the European circuit of Roman re-enactment. I had the good fortune to know him in the summer of 2011, at Marle, in France. Rene Cubaynes was in Rome today to attend the parade of the Dies Natalis. In the early afternoon, after the parade, he changed his clothes and after leaving the pieces of his equipment in the vehicle which had come from France, went with friends for a walk in the city. Meanwhile, someone forced the door of his car, producing a very significant damage, and stole all his equipment: the fruit of years studies, his sacrifices, his passion. Right now I struggle to curb the tears. You, who have committed this infamy probably don't even know what you took away. We, however, yes. That helmet, those phalerae, that sword, that pugio, that black subarmalis, those torques, all you have taken away has been published in many books for at least ten years now, we know them perfectly, we dreamed, looking at photos of Rene, to someday reach his level. Now we don't know what you want to do of them, but remember, we know the pieces one by one, we would recognize them even in hell, and if by chance one day we will review them around, know that there will be no place where you, slimy disgusting person, can feel safe; our friends and Rene's friends are around everywhere in Italy, Europe and the world, we will come and get you wherever you are to deliver you the law. You perhaps don't even know, but you are in trouble, be careful, we're already looking for you, unworthy beggar.
