I have a pair of Swiss puttees. What soldiers were issued these? I believe they are WW2 vintage from the shade of the wool..

Wickelgamaschen, in regulations also called "Wadenbinden", made of green wool, were used from ca. 1916 till 1948. 1914 they had first to use the elder type, made fro darkgrey or darkblue wool. Everyboy had two pairs (officers such made from cloth). Mounted troops had only one pair, mostly they wears gaiters of leather.

Thank you very much!

I am planning on wearing my Swiss uniform and kit at a WW2 event in Sept. I would like for it to be as authentic as I can have it. I would not want to dishonor Swiss soldiers by having it incorrect.
